"It's nicer than ever to be a woman. Stylish Tampon Compacts by Pursettes.

It's not always easy to be a woman. But Pursettes is trying to help. First we created a more absorbent tampon and the only one with a prelubricated tip. So easy to use. It doesn't even need a bulky applicator. And now we've created a tiny fashionable compact to carry your Pursettes. It's made in a variety of swingy, feminine styles and holds four regular Pursettes Tampons or three super-absorbent Pursettes Plus. Such a pretty, simple way to carry your protection. And it's free, with the purchase of any size box of Pursettes."

Cire Aseptine, 1947

Scanned from Portuguese magazine Século Ilustrado, No. 485, April 19 1947.

"A romantic skin
with irresistible softness and fairness
in just 3 days
Thanks to the virgin wax contained in the heart of flowers.

It's in the heart of rare flowers, growing in the Côte d'Azur, that beauty specialists have found an extraordinary virgin wax to beautify skin. Distilled and sold in a practical cream and under the name Cire Aseptine, it really has a magical power over skin. Apply a little Cire Aseptine morning and night, and see how even skin that's ruined by weather or sun literally renews itself, because skin cells that've been 'burned' give place to new cells, all fair and admirably soft to the touch. Most times 3 days are sufficient to lighten up your skin in one or two shades and to soften it. From the first applications, the transformation is surprising: skin begins to take on that romantic fairness to which no man can resist. Ugly black spots and dilated pores disappear before your eyes and even freckles end up disappearing. Use Cire Aseptine also on your shoulders, neck, arms and hands. Cire Aseptine, in perfume shops and pharmacies."

Wesson Oil Makes Delicious Pie Crust

Mrs. Boyd makes the best pies we ever tasted. She sends us this recipe for pie crust, with the comment that she never knew it to fail.

Sift into a missing bowl one and one-half cups of flour and one-half teaspoon of baking powder (made one-third soda, two-thirds cream of tartar). Make a depression in the centre. Into this pour a half cup of Wesson Oil and one-half cup of very cold (or ice) water. Add a pinch of salt. Mix quickly with a fork and divide in two portions. Do not knead, but roll on a well-floured board, spread on pans, fill and bake at once in a quick oven.

The ingredients should be cold, and do not knead of re-roll. The dough must not stand, but the whole process be completed as rapidly as possible."

"A flower...
A bow...
... and

Give you hair a chance!

You give special attention to you hair, you go to the hairdresser often, you use treatment products and 'mise' Pantene, but then you neglect the quality of the hairspray you use.

Isn't this nonsense?

Pantene Set is a product of scientific investigation from our labs at Switzerland, it contains primary materials which were carefully selected to hold your hairdo, without gluing your hair, and easily removed at the touch of a brush. Also, Pantene Set contains Pantyl, an active substance of the vitamin B that made famous all Pantene products in over 120 countries in the world.

So, Pantene Set is more than a hairspray, in truth it's the continuation of your Pantene treatment. Next time try Pantene Set, naturally more expsnive than a normal hairspray, but won't it be worth it to give your hair a chance?

"Color, everyone?

Sure, but which? Here they are: nine of the glowing colors you may select in the handsome new phones Western Electric makes for Bell telephone companies. The picture chart above shows the relative public popularity of these telephone colors. Have you see them lately at your Bell business office?

The trend in telephones is definitely to color - in both home and office - to complement any decor, or just for the sheer fun of it. And we at Western Electric are happy to oblige; in fact, two-thirds of all new telephones we'll make this year will be in color. The rest will be in traditional black.

Producing good looking, dependable telephones and the equipment needed to serve you, is one of our main jobs as part of the Bell System.

Tokalon cosmetics, 1947

Scanned from Portuguese magazine Século Ilustrado, No. 485, April 19 1947.

"A charming newlywed tells... How beauty brings happiness.

'I tried my best to dance as much as possible, but no man would have me - till the day when a younger friend made me understand how men respond to a smooth, clear skin.'

To sweeten your skin and lend it for a few days the fresh transparency of adolescence, you too should use 'oil-milky' beauty Cream, White Tokalon Cream, oily and at the same time light, so ointy it keeps face powder for eight hours, even in strong wind, and so light it literally disappears into your pores, 'melting' with your skin instead of 'caking on'. This is why White Tokalon Cream manages, like no other, to soothen your skin - without you feeling it on your face - and making it velvety with a perfectly natural matte finish - without it being noticeable."
